Commercial Real Estate Women (CREW) Atlanta, one of the largest of approximately 80 CREW Network chapters globally, today named Karmen Blackwell as the 2021 Shining Light award winner at its December meeting – 40 Years of Leadership: A Celebration of Enduring Legacy. The Shining Light Award recipient is selected each year by the CREW Atlanta president for working tirelessly behind the scenes to promote the CREW Atlanta mission and setting a standard for our membership and peers in the industry.
Blackwell has nearly 25 years of experience in commercial real estate and is a senior property manager at Brixmor, where she is responsible for properties in Alabama, Florida and Georgia. She joined CREW Atlanta in 2015, and this year served as co-chair of the newly formed CREW Atlanta Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) committee, which hosted three successful training events in 2021. CREW Network has held the Atlanta DEI program up as an example, and Blackwell was invited to host a DEI session at the CREW Network Convention, which was held in Las Vegas in September.
Additionally, the Atlanta organization affiliated with advancing women in commercial real estate since 1982, announced the winners of three chapter awards:
- Rising Star Award winner Monica Miller of Link Logistics Real Estate;
- New Member of the Year Meghan Mascarenhas of Holder Construction; and
- Committee Member of the Year Jen Reves of Smallwood.
“CREW Atlanta is a volunteer organization that is only able to do the great work that we do in advancing women in the commercial real estate industry because of members such as Karmen, Monica, Meghan and Jen,” said Greer Gallagher, senior vice president at Holder Construction and CREW Atlanta president. “I am privileged to have had the opportunity to work with each of these women and am in awe of their commitment to the CREW Atlanta mission of transforming the global commercial real estate industry to be diverse, inclusive and equitable for all.”
