A Letter from Our CREW Atlanta President

September 2, 2020

Dear CREW Atlanta Members,

If we have learned anything in 2020, it has been that we need to be flexible and constantly adapting to the new realities. For CREW Atlanta, it has been no different. Our board and committees quickly pivoted to create virtual programming and networking opportunities to keep our members engaged. If you have not yet had a chance to participate in one of these events, don’t wait any longer – they have been a great way to stay connected when we are all still socially distanced.

Because this group of leaders was so entrenched in all of the changes, in June the board had made the decision to extend the current leadership team through June 30, 2021. However, over the last few weeks as we looked toward next year, we realized that our “strength through strategy” makes that change unnecessary. We already will have continued knowledge of all the committee details through our two-year committee chair commitment, which allows for smooth transitions – and as it turns out, will keep our momentum even in these unprecedented times.

Therefore, we have reconsidered our earlier decision and will move forward with the regular rotation of the committee chairs and board on January 1, 2021. We welcome you to review the available positions attached below and complete your online submission indicating your interest to serve by going to this link by September 11, 2020. This will be a hard deadline and all open positions will be slated by late September.

Also, please note three important dates where your attendance is mandatory: Board/Committee Retreats: Friday, October 16 and November 19-20.

Additionally, the CREW Atlanta board has worked tirelessly behind the scenes to update our chapter bylaws. We will be voting on these bylaws remotely and ask that all members cast their online vote here by September 11, 2020. You may review the updated bylaws in the attachment below.

One exciting change is that we are adding a new Diversity Equity and Inclusion Vice Chair position in the Network Committee. We remain steadfast in our commitment to advancing women and promoting greater diversity, equity and inclusion in our industry, and believe the addition of this position will be a concrete step to furthering our work in this area. If you have not yet had a chance, you should read our most recent blog article by CREW Atlanta member Diana Robinson-Sinkford about how the CREW Network DEI Taskforce is working toward the accomplishment of one of CREW Network’s 2020-2023 Strategic Plan goals: to be the global thought-leader regarding diversity, equity and inclusion in commercial real estate.

There are several exciting events coming up this fall, and we hope to see you there! In particular, we look forward to our Empowerment Speaker Series on September 10 featuring Amy Robach as she discusses how she redefined success in the face of adversity to find greater joy in life – a lesson that certainly will resonate with many of us!

Also, if you know anyone who may be interested in joining CREW Atlanta, now is the time. We are currently offering our midyear rates, which are half price. For those who are seeking the support of a vibrant network of professionals, CREW Atlanta continues to provide meaningful opportunities for professional development and networking.

We appreciate your continued support and welcome any questions or suggestions that you may have.

Stay well and be kind to all,

Jodi Borges-Bradley
